2019 Travel Plans and Goals

With 2018 drawing to a close (already – can you believe it!?) it’s time to focus on 2019 travel plans and goals for Everywhere Bucket List!

I always love to look ahead, and I certainly love planning travel too – just check my travel planning page if you’d love my help! With that, I have goals for 2019 – and with goals comes the ability to achieve them! Wish us luck for the year ahead – I hope you too achieve your goals, whether they be travel related or not!

So, here are our 2019 travel plans and goals:

Surprise Trip in January

So the first travel plan on our list is a surprise road trip with my parents in early January! I can’t tell you all where we are going since my dad is my number one blog reader, so it’ll just have to stay a secret until then – but make sure you are following me on Instagram to see where we go and if the surprise is successful! 😉

Northern Lights

We have been gagging to go to Lapland to view the Northern Lights! In February we’ll be heading to Lapland for 5 days of freezing temperatures, huskies, snowmobiles and hopefully those dancing green lights in the sky!

Winter Sunshine

For me, I really struggle through these Dutch winters, heading to work in the dark, coming home from work in the dark. So, if there’s an opportunity, our 2019 travel plans will include somewhere in the south of Europe! On our list are Sardinia, Majorca or back to The Algarves… but anywhere with a cheap flight deal & above 20 degree Celsius weather means I’m in!

Honeymoon

Something kind of huge is happening next year – our wedding!! We are tying the knot in May 2019 (WOOHOO!!) and will then take 2 weeks vacation to Mexico! We specifically want to spend our time in the Yucatan Peninsula – so please send me your tips!
Staying in a honeymoon suite on the Yucatan isn’t cheap so for this holiday we are doing it luxury style – something we don’t usually do! Looking forward to great Mexican food, daily margaritas, stunning beaches, plenty of water sports and discovering the regions cultural highlights and cenotes! In short – WE CAN’T WAIT!

Greek Islands

In 2018 we had a trip booked to Athens and Corfu. However, during our time in Athens, one of our grandparents sadly passed away, cutting our time short in Greece to be with family during that tough time. But since then, we owe it to ourselves to go back to Greece and finish our trip and finally visit a Greek Island!
Not sure which island – maybe we’ll go to Corfu, maybe Santorini, maybe Milos, maybe another of the many islands!

European weekender

We haven’t been to Eastern Europe for a while and are very interested in visiting Riga or Tallinn! We have also NEVER been to Poland! So Poland could be on the cards, however my biggest wish for 2019 European weekenders is BUDAPEST!!! I have lived in Europe for over 5 years and have still not manged to go to Budapest – which is really just outrageous as a keen traveler & someone who puts Budapest number one on her travel list EVERY year.

Qatar

So this year we are all about sunshine – and what better place to get some sun than in the desert?! Our main reason for travelling to Qatar is not for sunshine though, but my Dutchie’s brother has moved to Doha just this month. We already miss them SO MUCH so we will definitely be visiting them at some point in 2019! Preferably a visit to Qatar around October/November since we have to space out our annual leave days! And also we hear it’s bearable heat by then. Neither of us has been to the Middle East before so we are super excited to explore Doha’s bright lights of the big city, but also experience the culture within the old part of the city – should be an exciting trip!
