So, the Hunk and I have been doing long-distance for a while, and it’s worked. The next step? Testing the waters of LIVING TOGETHER. After weighing up our options, Amsterdam came out on top so I am moving to his home country of The Netherlands!
I am SO excited for this new adventure and to see what life in The Netherlands will bring! I’ve visited Amsterdam plenty of times since meeting the Dutch Hunk, gaining a few favourite things, mainly surrounding eating, drinking and being merry.
I’ve started learning Dutch, “Ik ben een banaan”.. so I should be able to fit right in.
Things I’m excited about:
- Seeing the Hunk’s face everyday
- Riding my bike to work
- Kitting our apartment out Dutch-style, Delft blue and pot plants everywhere
- Being able to eat Bitterballen whenever, wherever!
- Shopping at Albert Hein for the first time without the Hunk’s help translating
- Harring season – jokes
- Tulips!
- Mastering Amsterdam geography
- My 2nd Kings Day
- Having our favourite local shops, cafes etc
My favourite 3 things I’ve found out about regards moving to Amsterdam:
- Getting a BSN (Tax/National number), which you can’t get until you have a flat
- Securing a flat, which you can’t get until you have a BSN or job
- Finding a job, which I can’t get without a BSN
Yes I plan to have fun with that…
Wish me luck!

Looking forward to a banana on a bike
I’ll try not to slow you down!
So exciting Starvin Marvin. What is a BSN? Assuming something like an NI number/TFN!?
You are going to rock it!
My number 1 favourite thing about you moving to Amsterdam:
– I GET TO VISIT YOU AND HAVE ALL THE FUN AND KISSES
Yes it’s a burger service number! Which means NI/TFN.
Can’t wait for your visit Slammer! Can’t come soon enough ?
