The Year of Travel: 2017

2016 was a big year for me. I moved from London to Amsterdam to be with my Dutch Hunk! This meant that half of the planned travel we had went out the window in favour of supporting ourselves whilst I was looking for a job – which took me 6 months! We were still able to make travel happen, by doing more local sight-seeing and driving to nearby places like Germany and Belgium!

Now that we are settled in Amsterdam and have 2 incomes, we are back to planning travel for 2017 – woohoo! With that said, here’s the proposed destinations for next year which I will be writing on!

Scotland

In early January the hunk and I are flying to Edinburgh for a week. We are renting a car and driving around the Scottish Highlands for 5 days and ending our trip with 2 days in Edinburgh! The hope is to see the Northern Lights, hike, explore the Isle of Skye, try our chance at spotting Nessie, and enjoy the beautiful city of Edinburgh! It’s going to be cold so wish us luck!

Portugal or Spain

During early February, the winter has gone on for too long and the dreary cold and dark days take their toll. Therefore, before we sink into a winter depression we are planning to go south for some winter sun! I find that getting a couple of days of sun during winter is KEY to surviving and thriving! Still deciding on either Porto or Valencia (or somewhere else!!) so stay tuned…

Budapest

This year, the hunk and I are 110% going to Budapest! And as we want to have 4-5 days in Budapest to see and do as much as possible, the perfect time to go is Easter, with 4 days off work for Easter, there’s no better time to travel without having to take a single day off of work! I really can’t wait to fall in love with this city.

NYC & Philadelphia

In May our awesome friends that live in London (and come from the USA) are having their wedding in Philadelphia! What better reason to travel to the USA?! This is going to be a big trip, staying in NY for a week and spending a few days in Philly! Looking forward to an amazing trip, and celebrating an amazing couple!

Greece

Our summer holiday destination. Athens, Santorini, Mykonos. Stunning islands, romance, boat trips, and an ancient city! CANNOT WAIT.

UK

I have all of my family living in different parts of the UK (all, except my parents, who live in Australia) and therefore, I shall take numerous trips to the UK throughout the year. Also, a wedding happening in the Lake District will be a fun trip in one of the most beautiful parts of England!

Lowlands Music Festival

The Hunk’s natural habitat is this very music festival. So, it’s only right that I experience it with him! No idea of the lineup yet, but we missed out last year due to my unemployment, so this year it is happening, no matter what!

Plitvice National Park

This remarkable place is in Croatia, however the hope for this trip is to visit Ljubljana and Lake Bled in Slovenia as well as Plitvice in Croatia. This national park can be overly populated during season, so an end-of-season trip will hopefully minimise the amount of school trips!

Australia

Yes, Christmas 2017/18 will be spent back down-under with my parents! The plan not only includes staying in Melbourne (the most livable city in the world), but also taking a road trip around Tasmania and heading up north to the Great Barrier Reef! Australia is a fantastic place to explore and also call home, so I will do my best to showcase my home on my blog!

With this plan, I will be going on many trips during 2017, and adding 4 NEW countries to my ‘been’ list.

The 2017 Year of Travel looks exciting and fun and I can’t wait to share my experiences with you!

  1. Hi, i read your blog from time to time and i own a similar
one and i was just curious if you get a lot of spam feedback?
If so how do you protect against it, any plugin or anything
you can suggest? I get so much lately it’s driving me crazy so any assistance is very much appreciated.

  2. I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting
my own blog and was curious what all is required to get set up?

I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny?
I’m not very internet smart so I’m not 100% positive.
Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Kudos
