The Cinque Terre, while it is beautiful and a great place to go to get some relaxation and sun, you can also do heaps of hiking in the area! The main trails are the trails between each of the 5 towns along the water front. There are also trails joining the villages up high in the hills.
The trails are a great way to burn a few calories from all of that pizza and gelato you’ll be eating in Italy! My man T and I found out the Riomaggiore to Manarola trail was closed, the first trail we wanted to do, so we took a train to Manarola and hiked up into the hills, on the way to Corniglia. The trails are somewhat narrow and are made of stone steps which were a little difficult for me to use as they were slightly too tall of a jump up for my legs! T had no trouble, but T is 6′2″ and I’m 5′8″.
But.. that being said, the views were spectacular! Being up that high gave us a great view from the back of Manarola into the town.
We also took in stunning views towards Monterosso from up high. I love seeing the Ocean looking so vast. It makes me feel really small!
After our main hike, we naturally rewarded ourselves with Gelato!
The hikes can be tiring and a struggle when there are steep climbs, however, you are rewarded with stunning views like these:
Hiking the Cinque Terre trail/s were rewarding!
