A Self-Guided Paris Walking Tour

First off, Paris is always a good idea. Second, a Paris walking tour, whether paid, free, or self-guided is is a must! It’s too good of a place not too see as much of it as possible!

Getting to Paris from within Europe is best done via train. The Eurostar leaves from central London (Kings Cross St Pancras) and in 2 hours gets you into central Paris (Gare Du Nord) which is much easier and better for your wallet, than having to find your way from the airport.

From Amsterdam it is 3 hours on the Thalys, and is 5 1/2 hours from Munich!

Paris Walking Tour

Sometimes it is more fun to take yourself on a walking tour, instead of following a walking tour. Paris is a good city to get lost, all while giving yourself the perfect tour of the city! This walking route can be done all in one day. You’ll cover 10.5km, so wear comfy shoes and get sightseeing!

Paris Walking Tour

1. Gare du Nord to Notre Dame

We walked through the ghetto near Gare De Nord, down to the Notre Dame. Here was our first glimpse of the Eiffel Tower.

2. Love Lock Bridge

A short stroll away from the Notre Dame you’ll find the famous bridge covered in locks, with names scrawled on each lock. Bring a lock with you and add your love to the bridge!

3. Louvre

From here, a straight shot down by the Seine to the Louvre and the Jardins. We stopped here by the small pond to rest our already weary feet. Don’t miss the Louvre pyramids – and avoid the long lines by going early into the Louvre! Better yet, save seeing the Mona Lisa for anther day to complete this walking tour in its entirety.

4. Champs Elysees

This street is the street to walk if you want to be seen. All of the shops are big brands which you can find is all major cities, however, the one place you must make a stop is none other than Laduree. The cakes are baking-art. And the macarons are the best ever.

 5. Arc de Triomph

Along the Champs Elysees you can always see the ‘End Zone’… the beautiful Arc de Triomph. It is a must that you climb to the top and take in the views. Truly the best viewing spot in all of Paris.

What is a photo of Paris, without this landmark?

6. Eiffel Tower

Walk via the Trocadero from the Arc de Triomph. The Trocadero is a fantastic place to take your first photo of the Eiffel Tower in all her glory. Then, down the steps you go, past the fountains, into the throng of the gypsies, wine sellers, creperies, and the delightful Champs de Mars.

Go and relax in the park by the tower and drink wine. And eat cheese.Paris Walking Tour
Drinking wine and eating cheese in front of the Eiffel Tower on the Champs de Mars is the most iconic thing to do in Paris. How can you not enjoy your evening with that view? And when the sun goes down, it gets better, when the Iron Lady starts sparkling!

What’s not to love about seeing that beauty for hour after hour?

I created a video of our time in Paris on the Magisto app, view it here: My Parisienne Video
