Being a Londoner, I try to be on the forefront of all of the new and exciting things happening in London. When I heard about the Sky Garden it was something that I just HAD to get tickets for!
What IS The Sky Garden?
The Sky Garden is held within the ‘Walkie Talkie’ building in the business sector of London (East by Thames, Monument tube station) and within the 3 storey high ‘penthouse’ of the building is a beer garden. Although I would lean more towards calling it a wine garden.
It’s a 360 degree viewing deck, as the building is surrounded in floor to ceiling windows. The south side of the building also has an outdoor ledge area where you can get a further view – although beware: the wind is extremely strong when you are up that high!!
How long does it take?
You could spend a day here if you really wanted, but don’t need more than an hour to explore the different sides views, have a drink and appreciate that there are places like this in London.
How much does it cost?
The Sky Garden is FREE, however to keep up the exclusivity of the place, they make you get tickets online for time slots throughout the day. You must arrive 10minutes prior to your allotted time slot and be dressed decently!
Why I like the Sky Garden
I have been twice. Once with my cousin and our boyfriends, and once with my mother. Both times it has been a lovely experience for myself and my guests!
What I enjoy most about the Sky Garden is that you get a unique view of London from the East side, and can barely even see the London Eye or Big Ben from your vantage point.
Being so far on the other side of town, you can get a great view of the buildings in the area like Tower Birdge and the Tower of London and gives a unique perspective to the city!
While the Coca Cola branded London Eye costs £16, the Sky Garden is FREE. I’ll choose this every time over the over-priced over-touristy wheel.
Have you been to the Sky Garden in London?
Australian expat, married to a Dutch guy, living in Amsterdam. Previously lived in London for 3 years, too! Lover of travel, coffee, brunch, beaches, fresh flowers, and family. Now a new mum, navigating life with a baby!

This looks amazing!
I also wanted to go there on my last trip to London, and was gutted when I realised to late that you need to book tickets in advance. Definitely on the to-do-list for the next visit!
